Prologue

Vennela:

In the quiet sanctity of my room, I was adorning myself in a radiant red bridal saree. Today marked the beginning of a new chapter in my life, my wedding day. The man I was about to marry was none other than my childhood confidant, Yuvan. His proposal had come as a pleasant surprise, and I found no reason to decline. He seemed like the perfect fit, not just for me, but for my family as well. Yet, I entrusted the final decision to my father, my pillar of strength and guiding light.

A renowned neurosurgeon, my father has always been my beacon of inspiration. His benevolence is evident in his monthly donations, which account for half of his income, towards the treatment of the underprivileged. His selfless deeds have saved countless lives, and I couldn't be prouder to be his daughter.

"Vennela, are you ready?" My mother's voice broke my train of thought. I turned towards her, raising an eyebrow in response.

"How do I look, dear mata?" I asked, a playful tone lacing my words.

"Just like a monkey," retorted my sister, Samhita, earning a chuckle from me.

"I'll get you for that," I threatened playfully, only to be stopped by our mother.

"Vennela, you're about to be married, and you two are still bickering. Should I call your father?" she asked, a hint of amusement in her voice.

I shrugged nonchalantly, knowing well that my father would always side with me. Samhita pouted, aware of our father's bias.

"Now that you're getting married, this house will be all mine," Samhita teased, trying to rile me up.

"Well, you can keep the house. I'll take mom and dad with me," I countered, leaving her speechless.

Just then, we heard the priest calling for the bride. It was time. Led by my mother, I made my way to the wedding altar, where I took my place beside Yuvan. As the pre-wedding rituals commenced, a sense of serenity washed over me. The rituals concluded, and it was time for Yuvan to tie the knot. The moment we had been waiting for was finally here.

Suddenly, the tranquil atmosphere of the mandap was shattered by the arrival of a man dressed in black, flanked by armed guards. I assumed he was a high-profile guest, given my father's extensive network of influential acquaintances. The man entered the mandap with a smirk, his gaze fixed on my father. Before I could comprehend the situation, my father collapsed.

I rushed to my father's side, my heart pounding with fear.

"Ash...wa..th..." he managed to utter, pointing weakly at the stranger before his eyes closed forever.

The stranger checked my father's pulse and announced with a chilling laugh, "He's no more."

His men seized my mother, sister, and Yuvan. The stranger grabbed my hair, forcing me to stand.

"You're quite the beauty. I'm glad I arrived in time, or I would've missed you," he sneered, his hand resting on my waist. I was too shocked to react, my gaze fixed on my father who had breathed his last in the presence of this stranger.

Who was he? Why was he here? Why did my father have to die seeing him?

"Dispose of the rest. They're of no use to me. I'll take this beauty home and deal with her later," he ordered, his words sending a chill down my spine.

"No, no, please don't hurt them," I pleaded, joining my hands in a desperate appeal. He flung me to the floor in response.

"Kill them," he commanded, his tone even more menacing.

"No. Please spare them. I'll do whatever you ask, just let them go," I begged, clutching his hands. He paused to look at me.

"Anything?" He asked, a sinister smile playing on his lips. I nodded, my mind racing.

"Marry me this instant. Even if you refuse, you'll still be my mistress. But as my wife, there are certain... advantages. I believe you understand what I mean."

I realized he was referring to the property that was in my name.

"I will marry you," I found myself saying, the words leaving my lips before I had time to fully comprehend them.

He took the mangalsutra and tied it around my neck, my tears flowing freely. Then, he handed me a stack of documents.

"Sign these," he ordered.

"What are these documents?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

"From this moment, all your property belongs to me. Sign them quickly."

The realization hit me like a punch to the gut. If I signed these papers, my mother and sister would be left with nothing. As I hesitated, a gunshot rang out. They had shot Yuvan in the hand.

"Will you sign, or should I order them to kill your family?" he threatened.

With a heavy heart, I signed the documents. His cruel laughter echoed around me.

"Just because I've tied this knot doesn't make you my wife. You're my prisoner. You'll serve me in every way I demand. Your father may have escaped, but you won't. His princess is now my captive."

He brushed his lips on my neck, while I clenched my fist.

"Bring her mother and sister to our residence. Leave that man behind."

They abandoned Yuvan and hauled my family towards the vehicle. He seized my hair once more, pulling me towards his car. He flung me into the vehicle, and without delay, all the cars departed from the scene.

Who is this man? Where are we headed? How can I devise an escape plan for my family and myself?

The journey was lengthy, and we arrived at a location that resembled a forest. He parked his car near a secluded bungalow. As I stepped out of the car, before I could search for my mother and sister, he yanked me into the house, gripping my wrist. He tossed me onto the floor of a room.

My elbow throbbed with pain, and I grimaced.

"Relax, daddy's little princess. You'll soon grow accustomed to these injuries, and they'll become part of your daily life. As long as you behave, your mother and sister will remain unharmed. But if you step out of line, I won't hesitate to send one of them to your father to keep you in check."

"Who are you? What do you want? Why are you doing this to us?"

His laughter echoed once more.

"Once I've had enough of your beauty and end your life, ask your father. He can answer your questions better than I can. For now, rest. Tonight, you will be mine. Your tear-streaked face is enticing. Your tears and fear make me yearn for you even more. They are that alluring."

With that, he locked the door and left. I scanned the room for any hint about his identity, but it was bare. Escaping him wouldn't be difficult for me, but I had to ensure my family's safety first. My thoughts drifted to my father. He didn't even allow me to perform his last rites. I closed my eyes.

Vennela, devise a plan. For now, I must act like a simple girl and follow his commands for the sake of my family. But soon, I will make him pay for what he did to my family and for crushing my dreams.

Does he really believe this forced marriage holds any significance? He tied this knot through blackmail and I don't care about it. I will definitely get rid of this man soon.
